We therefore cast for a great variety of roles, from principal boys and girls in classic fairytales & myths; as well as comedy roles, villains and character roles.
Even though Alpha is not a huge company and certainly does not generate huge incomes from producing our shows, we provide a great working environment for all our actors and a chance to perform in music theatre style productions that are the highest quality in Australia. Please note, we are not Disney so please do not say that you want to work with us because you ‘love Disney’. We are NOT producing Disney shows.

Hey guys
I was wondering whether you accepted video auditions because i live in perth or whether i had to fly to one of your auditioning cities? Thanks 
We do accept Video auditions (see the Melbourne location for our address of where to send to).
However we will make you at least aware that without seeing you in person we cannot really get a sense of who you are properly. We may even see something in you that you do not see in yourself, and in person we can ask you to read for another part. So if you are going to send us a video audition, we suggest you do an awesome song first up – so we know how good a singer you are (which quickly categorises you on the characters that you can play or would be best suited to). Then perform a whole bunch of the sides, not just 1 or 2. Do 4 or 5 at least of the styles of characters, maybe a villain, sidekick, comedy, wise-character and then if you’re suitable, a principal boy/girl role.
Look at the website and look at the pictures of characters and accurately cast yourself. If you’re a character actor or look like one, then we’re unlikely to consider you for a princess role. Same with the prince roles etc. You have to be able to look right and make the audience believe you are the character. Also try to select characters from shows we are actually doing that year and are looking for those roles. So it saves you some $$ not having to fly over, but it’s probably a bit more work for you to try to cover all bases. But we are definitely cool with receiving video auditions and we WILL watch them, we promise!
Probably better to upload to youtube and make private (we don’t believe in this make everyone to public auditions thing) and send us the link, rather than having to send a video. Much easier. Taking the video on your iPhone is fine, or a digital camera. Easy to then get online.

Hello to all at Alpha.
I am a South Australian and have already booked my audition for November 13th in Melbourne. However, i am currently playing the lead in a local show and have just found out that our final dress/tech run is on this day. As i am playing the lead part attendance at this rehearsal is fairly crucial. The director is trying to work out other possibilities however, if it can not be rescheduled, do i need to let you know to cancel my booking (via email or phone) or do i need to keep my audition booking anyway in order to submit a video audition? Hope i have explained myself clearly.

You don’t need an audition booking if your’e not coming, no. Just youtube us a vid and we’ll go from there, or come to the Sydney auditions.
I have already made an audition booking, however can no longer attend. I have had a look around the website an am not entirely clear how to go about cancelling that booking. It was for the Melbourne audition on November 13th. Thanks for your time. I will be sending you a link to my video audition ASAP.

In Sydney there are still auditions but we are pretty much cast now for 2012
